Sega has a Crush on the PSP

And they're showing their love in the form of an inventive new puzzler.

Although the PSP's software selection has been rather lacking, the majority of games to see success so far have been simple and conducive to handheld play. Because of this, the puzzle genre has always been a perfect match for handheld owners worldwide.

Unfortunately, it's kind of hard to keep simple games like Tetris fresh after several decades. The solution? Change. Sega feels up to the task, and today they've announced a new puzzle game titled Crush. In what looks like a hybrid between Intelligent Cube and Mario, players navigate a 3d universe as "Dan", a man undergoing hypnosis attempting to uncover his past, temporarily condensing the world into a simpler 2d rendition in order to accomplish tasks that are impossible in 3d.

Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Hyp- er, marketing for SEGA of America wanted everyone to know that Crush is unique, stating "The spatial concept of the crushing mechanic is something truly unique that encourages users to think back and forth between 3D and 2D objects and environments to engage different parts of their brain, and see beyond what is literally in front them." We'll be sure to tell you what we think before the game hits shelves this summer.
