Let the Fare Wars Begin
Crazy Taxi has finally arrived on the PSP.

Though specs-wise the PlayStation Portable is more powerful than anything created thus far in the world of handheld gaming, most incorrectly assume it's almost a portable PlayStation 2. In truth, it's somewhere between a PS one and PS2, somewhere like, say, a Dreamcast maybe? It might explain just why we're all excited about seeing one of the best franchises SEGA ever created for the arcades (and later a fantastic home conversion for the Dreamcast) on the PSP -- that and we've played the game and it ran beautifully.
Yes, it's safe to say that we're pumped for the release of Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, and lucky us, we don't have to wait much longer for it, as SEGA has finally shoved the game out the door and it rolling into stores come tomorrow. If you're not quite sure why we're all giddy about the game shipping, and you can't be bothered to click that link in the first paragraph alllll the way up there, then listen to Scott A. Steinberg, SEGA of America's VP of Marketing:
"With over 2.7 million games sold to date in the Crazy Taxi series, SEGA is excited to revitalize this fun, frantic, and highly addictive classic from its vault of top hits," Steinberg glows. "With the newly added multiplayer modes in Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars, and an easy to use custom music player, this PSP system exclusive brings back the fun on wheels for endless gaming on the go."
Hear that, people? Custom soundtracks, and it's simple drag-and-drop MP3s, no conversion necessary. Oh, and the multiplayer modes, Scott spoke of? That would be Ad-Hoc head-to-head battles to pick up fares where the other guy can mess with you while you try to beat him to your next fare. If you're afraid of wireless multiplayer, there's always local two-player stuff too, but you clearly need to embrace the idea of all this data whipping through the air invisibly.
We should have a full review of the game shortly, but if you can't wait (and we don't blame you), you can snag it tomorrow morning.
