Capcom’s Classic Compilation

Yep, Capcom’s going 8- and 16-bit all over again. Alliteration rules!

Retro collections are all the rage these days. And why not? If you’re a publisher that’s been around long enough to amass a sizeable collection, there’s no reason why you can’t re-release all the titles to capitalize on all the nostalgia. It’s worked for Midway for years now, and Namco’s been doing it almost as long as there have been CD-based systems.

Now, it’s Capcom’s turn. 20 games, from Ghosts N’ Goblins to 1942 to Final Fight will be collected as the Capcom Classics Collection. 20-plus games spanning the NES and SNES days. The games themselves are reproduced faithfully, but some offer game tips and remixed music in addition to the usual 2-player goodies that were all the rage back in the day.

So, there you have it. No more bitching and moaning about how games were better “back in the day.” Now you can actually show people that you’re not just an old codger trying to prove a point. Well, at least not with games, anyway. Now got eat your bran muffin and gear up to shuffle on down to your local game store to pick up a copy next year, or head down now for
the PS2 version
, which was released today.
