Reloaded, Retro Style
And you thought one portable version of Capcom Classics Collection was enough? Try TWO! Yeah, we know. Whoa.

With an announcement like this, you’ve got to figure someone at Capcom is convinced having classic arcade titles on the go is the best thing since sliced bread. Namco and Midway have already dipped into the PSP market with their respective retro collections, but not even a month after its first handheld compilation, Capcom is already going in for seconds. Are you ready for it? It’s Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded.
We’re not going to try and pull any surprises here: Reloaded is simply another lineup of 15+ timeless arcade favorites in the palm of your hand. A chunk of the games you’ll see are actually being borrowed from the console version (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing), but will be warmly joined by a fresh batch of news ones, including Eco Fighters, King of Dragons and Knights of the Round. These confirmed classics should give a good idea of the genre spread this time around, which Capcom says will range from side scrolling brawlers to vertical shooters and everything in between.
“Capcom’s classic arcade hits are truly reloaded for the PSP system,” insists Todd Thorson, director of marketing Capcom Entertainment. “On top of fan favorites such as Street Fighter II, Ghouls‘n Ghosts and Commando we’ve added a new group of titles to the collection, continuing our legacy of providing quality entertainment for all players.”
Well hey! Three more confirmed titles!
The collection will be getting the usual WiFi treatment, which means, hooray, game sharing and Ad-Hoc multiplayer for everyone. For you sticklers for authenticity, Reloaded will also offer customizable controls and screen settings, with the latter letting you enjoy the classics in their original presentation. Sure, a trip down nostalgia lane is a satisfying one, but it pales in comparison to the fun you’ll have using those earned credits on the game’s themed slot machine and unlocking a wealth of original art, playing tips and secret codes in return. It sure beats blowing a grand in Vegas!
Pocket those quarters, spanky, ‘cause you ain’t gonna need ‘em once Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded rolls out the retro in Q4 2006. May we suggest a trip to the gumball machine instead?
