Bomberman Land's on PSP

No, that's not a horrid typo, just read on and it'll all make sense...

Hudson's little trademark mascot has been blowing the hell out of stuff for years, but it seems no matter how much they try to change the core formula, the best execution of the concept seems to be in sticking to the series' roots. That's likely why they decided to include the tried-and-true gameplay (as multiplayer, no less) when Hudson decided to bring the franchise to the PSP with Bomberman Land.

“Gamers are going to be blown away by the sheer amount of content they get in the Bomberman Land series,” claims John Greiner, President and CEO of Hudson Entertainment. “Each version of the perspective Bomberman Land title is different, with unique mini-games, Story Mode, and features. With the success of Bomberman Live on XBLA, we knew we had to up the bar for the brand, and we believe this series truly is triple the fun.”

Them's some mighty strong words, there, John, but perhaps we should explain a little. See, in addition to the PSP version, an identical Wii version and a DS-specific copy of the game will be released. The main draw with all three is a trio of different game modes, including Wi-Fi multiplayer (they're calling it Battle Pack Mode) with game sharing so you only need one copy of the game to play with multiple PSPs, an adventure game-style quest-driven Story Mode and a third mode with 50 mini-games will hopefully provide more than a little luv for Bomberman freaks.

Like most of Hudson's recent releases, the game(s) will be co-published with Konami (who also handles the distribution of the games). Though Bomberman won't actually be making his PSP debut until January 2008, we've managed to steal a precious few screenshots for you to enjoy. So enjoy already!
