Formula Full Frontal
That much needed mech combat niche has finally been filled.

From Software’s Armored Core series has been an intrinsic part of the PlayStation libraries almost since they started. The PS2 launched with the first Armored Core sequel, and even the Japanese launch of the PSP had an AC game to go with it. Here in the States, though, we’ve been rather AC-free, and it’s a shame.
It was for good reason, though, believe us. See, there was the issue of not being able to, y’know, control the mechs fighting. This was a conscious decision by From Software, since the game was more or less meant to be a hands-off kind of gameplay experience, but in the process of bringing the game Stateside, Agetec wisely deduced that that shiznite wouldn’t fly here and took a little extra time to add in Manual Control mode.
This means that we’re getting an improved version of the game, now dubbed Formula Front – Extreme Battle, but retaining all the same parts, levels and mech configurations (450+, 35+ and more than 100 million, respectively) from the JP release, making for a stupidly huge amount of customization for when you get your fellow mech-obsessed nutjob friends to play wirelessly with you.
“This game is a must have this holiday season for mech fans who desire the ultimate in robot customization,” spazzed Mark Johnson, Agetec’s VP of Marketing. “We are excited to bring the Armored Core series to the PSP to show off its awesome graphics, wireless head to head action, and the new, improved manual gameplay feature. The battles are going to be raging!”
Raging, people! The game should be on shelves as you read this, and we’ll have a review shortly.
