Something tells us the simultaneous release of Ape Escape 3 and Ape Escape Academy rivals a barrel of monkeys in the fun department.

As tempted as we are to just blurt out, “MONKEYS! MONKEYS EVERYWHERE!,” we feel the responsibility to you, the reader, to choke down our passion for primates and instead take a sorry stab at a legitimate news story.
Ahem.
In this case, it concerns Sony Computer Entertainment America, who has sent its most recent additions to the Ape Escape family to the jungles of retail: Ape Escape 3 promises more simian-nabbing silliness, while the series’ PSP debut with Ape Escape Academy brings copious amounts of family-friendly mini-games to the party.
"The latest installments to the Ape Escape franchise are sure to deliver to fans exactly what they want -- fresh storylines, enhanced features, and unique gameplay," outlines John Koller, senior product manager, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "Retaining all of the humor and fun of the previous games, Ape Escape 3 and Ape Escape Academy give players the sheer creativity and endless gameplay variety certain to make these madcap monkeys a favorite for gamers of all ages."
For some, 400+ monkeys on the loose sounds like a insanely good time, but to an unsuspecting public, it could mean world domination! The always-sinister Spector has instructed his army of chimps to use senseless television programs to hypnotize the public, and as a pair of new heroes, Kei and his sister Yumi, players must set out to bag each and every monkey before the shows go live. Both sibling is playable, and each has the ability to transform into several extraordinary characters, including Miracle Ninja, Wild West Kid, Fantasy Knight, and Genie Dancer. SCEI has teamed up with Konami to allow for some assembly hilarious antics in a Metal Gear Solid-inspired mini-game. And did we mention this?!
In the pocket-sized department, Ape Escape Academy capitalizes in the art of the mini-game, offering plans the chance to compete in Mind, Body and Technique-related tasks. Stock on collectables all while storming up the class ranks in Academy mode or hit it up Ad-Hoc mode with a monkey-luvin’ bud, if it so suits you!
Assuming your local retailer hasn’t been overrun by an overzealous bunch with a fancy for bananas, you’ll find Ape Escape 3 and Ape Escape Academy on store shelves by tomorrow.
