“Activision Hits Remixed features every Atari 2600 game in our library of titles and provides players with the most comprehensive compilation of classics ever assembled for the PSP gaming platform,” boasts Kim Salzer, VP of global brand management at Activision. “PSP gamers will experience the industry’s definitive puzzle, sports, action and driving games in their entirety along with all-new multiplayer capabilities.”
Yeah, so that's a lot of games. Granted, they're 2600 games, which is something we feel we need to point out (not that [pspmedia=261]the screenshots[/pspmedia] wouldn't make that obvious), but hey, if you're gonna go retro, you'd better go real freakin' retro, right? Right.
Hits Remixed sports famous titles (if you're an old-timer, that is), stuff like Pitfall and Keystone Kapers and Kaboom, but it also sports Game Sharing so multiple PSPs can play against (or with) each other wirelessly with only a single copy of the game. Oh, and just to help immerse you in the spirit of the 80s, Activision scored a licensed soundtrack complete with Men Without Hats' "Safety Dance", Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" and Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It". Yes, let the nostalgia wash over you as those songs get stuck in your head. We've had that stupid synth sequence from "Tainted Love" in our heads all morning.
You can too, of course, if you've got a hankerin' for old-school complilations as the game should be in stores as you read this. It's the power of the internet!
