Loop-de-loops in the Sky with Deception
Wow, that was almost an awesome Beatles reference, but we made sure we messed up for ya.

The Ace Combat games are what you call bankable, meaning one comes out and you know, without even having to play the game, that it's going to be an awesome recreation of aerial combat. The story might be hit-or-miss (and, in the case of Ace Combat 3 on the PS one, it missed big time thanks to a bunch of the animated cutscenes just getting stripped out completely), but the action never really gets any less awesome. More familiar, sure, but that just means when your pulling six Gs with the afterburners roaring just a few feet behind your back, you know you'll be able to break that missile lock.
And now, finally the series has come to the PSP. There are many franchises we'd like to see done right on the PSP, and for the most part, we've been very, very lucky. Sure, it's port-o-riffic for a lot of stuff, but the original projects have been stellar, and Namco has gone out of their way to make the PSP impossible to resist with products like Tekken: Dark Resurrection. But have they done it again with Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception? Well, we probably shouldn't say bu--HEEEEEEY, waitaminit. You're going to have to wait for the review, buddy boy. Sorry, them's the rules.
“We are thrilled to expand upon the franchise and deliver the intense aerial experience fans expect from the Ace Combat series onto the PSP system for the first time,” gleefully shouted Namco Bandai Games America Product Group Director Yoshi Niki. “With its long list of impressive new features, Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception is a must buy action title for the PSP system.”
For those not yet in the know, ACX is not a port; it's a completely original game that takes place in a different world from the one seen in the past couple entries to the console series, but there are reports coming in off the wire that it rocks your face with awesome all the same. These are, of course, unconfirmed, but--awww, screw it, the wait is over, it's Ace Combat on your PSP! Go get it! Cry about how it still doesn't have online play as you drive home! The PSP will be there to wipe your tears away, don't worry. And so will we.
Yeah, creepy. That's how we roll.
