Are you ready to be seen by the all-seeing eye? I mean are you ready to see the all-seeing eye of Sauron? It seems like everyone has had a piece of the Lord of the Rings franchise at one point or another, and the games have covered all manner of genres. There was even a LEGO game out there.

But hey, it's a huge universe with such a wide variety of characters and settings that there really are almost unlimited possibilities when it comes to designing a game. The latest challenger to step the the plate is the legendary Monolith Productions. They've been hard at work on Middle-Earth: Shadows of Mordor and they're finally ready to reveal what they've been doing. If you've been perusing our news articles in the past, you know that we don't embed that mature stuff here, but we're always going to link you to someplace you can see it if you're of the appropriate age.

SoM looks to be a character-action style of game with a robust melee combat system and a nice range of Tolkien-style fantasy bad guys to tear apart. Delivering a new story that's set between the events of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. You'll take on the role of Talion, a ranger who's out for revenge on Sauron (although the timeframe says Sauron is still relatively unknown).

The new Nemesis System claim to tailor each game to the player by creating enemies who respond to the players strengths and weakness that adapt as the game goes on. This is a bold claim we've seen from developers in the past and if pulled off correctly makes this seem like it could rival the Souls games for complexity of combat.

We'll certainly be keeping an eye on this one as more information comes out. It's hard to base much on initial gameplay videos, but Monolith's track record is impressive.
