Great news for those of you who have been waiting with bated (or is it baited, I never know) breath for the next installment of the PSN game Watchmen : The End is Nigh can finally relax. Part 2 (which seems like it might be the final part) will be hitting the PSN on July 30th for $14.99. Once again featuring the exploits of Nite Owl and Rorschach in the decade before the film, expect to see the same ultra-violence and locations inspired by the look of the movie. This time, they team up to help solve the case of a missing girl, Violet Greene (ooh look she has two colors in her name, is that significant? AND Violet is sort of like Violent, and this game sure is violent… and I reading too much into this?) with their usual brand of, shall we say, “firm” tactics.

Even better news for those of you who just don’t have patience (and isn’t that all of you?) and who also loved the film, you can get the game 10 days earlier by buying the special Blu-ray edition Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience, an innovative experience that combines both parts of the game with a new directors cut of the film featuring 25 minutes of addition footage, available only on DVD and Blu-ray. The two-disc collectible set will also feature exclusive artwork in a premium package, and will retail for $49.99 starting on July 21st. If you haven’t gotten the first Watchmen game, and you are interested in the movie, this is a great deal since the two games themselves will cost $30 on the PSN, so throwing in the Director’s cut of the film on Blu-ray for $20 more makes this package a great bargain.

Personally, I am waiting for the video game adaption of the Watchmen “sidestory” Tales from the Black Freighter, which I envision as a cross between Sid Meier’s Pirates and Doom 3. So if anyone over at Warner Brothers is looking for ideas and a project lead, look no further than right here. Also, I have some great ideas for a game based on the comic “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, who I am pretty sure are going to hit it big any day now…
