This last weekend the crème de la crème of the world's Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter and co. gamers smashed their virtual heads in at the first annual World Cyber Games Fighter Club in New York (totally sponsored by Samsung). Almost 5,000 groupies and gamers showed up at New York City's Time Warner Center to scream their favorite players to victory in Capcom's Street Fighter IV, Tecmo's Dead or Alive 4, Namco's Soulcalibur IV, and Sega's Virtua Fighter 5.

These dudes made it to the top:

Street Fighter IV - Justin 'Marvelous' Wong (New York, NY) -- „Justin continued his reign as the undisputed world champion beating all challengers including his rival Arturo 'Sabin' Sanchez in the finals“

Dead or Alive 4 - Jeremy 'Black Mamba' Florence (Rio Rancho, NM) -- „Current WCG champion 'Black Mamba' defended his title, solidifying his name in DOA 4 history„ A name that would have probably been enough to turn any of us fighting game noobs (well, not everyone...) here at TPS into little, pink bunny hamsters. Never heard of a bunny hamster? It's the one with the bunny ears and the...oh, never mind. You wouldn't believe us anyway.

Soulcalibur IV - Philip Atkinson (Piscataway, NJ) No kind words for Philip? Well here are some: We love you dude! You rock! Eh, ok. Moving on.

Virtua Fighter 5 - Yohsuke Lizuka (Japan) - „Yohsuke traveled all the way from Japan to win the competition.“ Why else would he have come?

Ah, and you probably missed the finale of Ultimate Gamer last night 'cause this news is, due to totally mysterious occurrences, a tiny bit late. But it's probably on Hulu, so you can stop crying now dude. Dudes crying just ain't cool. Especially because there is way too much of it here at the office lately with all the piggy flu madness.
