P-A-R-T-Y With SOE

Going to Comic-Con? Living in San Diego? Just feel like a road trip? Ho hooo, we've got this sweet party we know about.

Earlier this week, we told you about Capcom packing up their goods and schlepping the whole operation down to San Diego for the Comic-Con, effectively making their booth something of a mini-E3 (and, truth be told, they're actually showing off more stuff than they did at E3). As we said before, it's a pretty natural fit; blend the comic book fan base with video game fans and you'll notice it's a pretty homogeneous mix.

It looks like Capcom isn't the only video game company to take notice of the easy crossover potential. Sony Online Entertainment has reeled in folks with their EverQuest Fan Faire for years now, but for Comic-Con, they're doing something a little more neighborly: they're inviting everyone over to the office to get hydrated (or dehydrated) and check out games.

The SOE Block Party is being held Saturday, July 22nd from 3-7PM, and offers folks interested in the suite of SOE massively multiplayer games something to take a peek at, plus some food, some drinkie-poos and a little something for the console guys out there too. In addition to showing off EverQuest Online Adventures (yes, it's still around), visitors can get a peek at the upcoming PS3 launch title Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom.

There's more, too; guided tours of the office, a Dev Dunk Tank, the entirely expected Sony Xplod car audio demonstration, an appearance by the 501st Legion (masters of dressing up like Stormtroopers and such) and new PC gear from Razer (who are showing off Krait, their new MMO mouse). To appease the truly comic-starved, fantasy scribe R.A. Salvatore and Matrix Online/comic writer Paul Chadwick will show up as special guests.

All you need to do is hop on a bus near Section B of the San Diego Convention Center from 3-5PM and look for returning busses heading out starting at 5:30. If you don't dare head near the Comic-Con but happen to be in the area, you can still head to SOE's offices and enjoy the show. They're cool like that.

TotalPlayStation folks will be on hand to check things out, so if you happen to bump into us, make sure to say hi. See you at the Block Party!
