The original Trine was well received by critics and gamers alike. For those of us here that played the game, we found it to be quite enjoyable, too (but unfortunately, we never had a chance to review it). Needless to say, the anticipation for the next installment, Trine 2, is quite high.

So the announcement from Atlus yesterday may be quite disappointing to many, as Trine 2 has been delayed until Summer 2011. No other specifics were mentioned at this time. We reached out to Atlus regarding the delay, but we did not get a response at the time of publishing.

Trine 2 will continue the tale of the knight, the thief, and the mage as they are forced to work together to solve physic-based puzzles and combat hazards of all types. The original game allowed for free switching between the three characters in single player, as well as 3-player cooperative mode, all of which the sequel plans to bring. Expect more news on Trine 2 as the game gets closer to its unspecified Summer 2011 release on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC.
