Apparently Tony needed another Rolls-Royce...

Maybe you are one of those who bought Tony Hawk: Ride . Maybe you are one of the nuts like our editor-in-chief who somehow managed to procure TWO of those special skateboard controllers. Or maybe you just don't like yourself. If you fit into any of those categories, you will be probably be thrilled to hear about the latest entry, Tony Hawk: SHRED that will be hitting stores this October 26th.

Seeing as how we were not really fans of the first game here, let's hope that they have made some big changes for the next entry in the fourth reboot of the Tony Hawk franchise. For one thing, it seems Tony Hawk has been taking some cues from his younger, hipper pal Shaun White, and has added snowboarding into the new game. Has Tony ever taken it up to the slope? Who knows! Perhaps this will tide us over until someone decides to grace us with a new entry in the SSX series (or they see fit to give SSX Tricky the HD treatment). Given the direction of the series the last decade, we have our doubts.

We've been wrong before, but it sure looks like SHRED is being marketed to the casual/kiddy crowd, while they accept that the hardcore skater is going to stay with the skate series. For proof, just gander at the fact that the only preorder bonuses for SHRED are available from Toys R Us. I miss my Dreamcast and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. Sigh.
