Get excited!

Remember that super secret Sony game that was going to be revealed for the VGAs? Well that came and went and we found out about a little bitty called The Last of Us. This is the newest IP from Naughty Dog, who I'm sure most of you know by now for their Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter, and, of course, Uncharted franchises.

The Last of Us blends survival and action elements to create a character driven story about a population decimated by modern plague. There will be cities that are abandoned and once again taken over by nature as remaining survivors fight for food, weapons, and most of all, survival. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a young teenage girl work together to journey across the United States. To me it sounds a lot like The Walking Dead but hopefully these characters are a lot smarter than the ones we see on the small screen.

"We are excited to finally unveil The Last of Us, a project the team has been working hard on for some time," said Evan Wells, Co-President of Naughty Dog. "Naughty Dog's mission is to change the way people experience videogames. We are confident The Last of Us will take a leap forward in cinematic gaming and storytelling, providing gamers with an experience unlike anything else in the industry."

Needless to say, this game has already jumped to the top of our "Must Have" charts. It's always fun to see a new IP, especially from a studio with Naughty Dog's pedigree and talent. Look for more details in the coming months and let's all keep our fingers crossed for a 2012 release.
