The Dark Resurrection Hits PS3 "This Month"
Look, we don't know the exact day. Does it matter? 1080p Tekken is coming!

Few games inspire the kind of insane lengths that people will go to play them like Tekken does. Namco's flagship fighter is simultaneously unconditionally loved for establishing a very particular kind of gameplay and ceaselessly bemoaned for not really changing it since the first game, but to see how PlayStation 3 owners wanted it took no more than watching message boards for the elaborate methods used to download the enhanced 1080p/60fps version that went up on the Japanese and Hong Kong PlayStation Stores a few weeks ago.
PS3 owners fiending for their early Tekken: Dark Resurrection fix would register a Hong Kong PlayStation Store account (Japanese worked too, but the HK store is in English), use a US credit card, but a HK address (usually they looked up a HK hotel and used that), and then add money to the account about $10 at a time until they reached the magical 16 or so buck price point to download the game.
Crazy? Maybe. Dedicated? Well guess who's going to be whipping your ass with their ghost data when you download the game from the US PlayStation Store? Yep, those guys. The real fans. But you did read that right, Tekken is indeed coming sometime "later this month" according to Namco. Though the exact date and price point haven't been confirmed yet, we do know that the new options will include the ability to play as Jinpachi, a Gallery Mode allowing for HD movies and character art and enhanced Ghost Data options will all be added for the US release. In case you missed it before, the game now runs at glorious 1080p and at 60 frames a second. Mmmm... technology.
