Now if only you could download them in a second.

Disney Interactive Studios announced today that Split/Second would get three downloadable content packs. Each will come with a new mode and other various bells and whistles.
“We wanted to reward the passionate Split/Second community with even more frenetic racing experiences so creating new tracks and modes seemed like the best way for us to thank them,” said Nick Baynes, game director, Black Rock Studio. “Starting with the Survival at the Rock Pack, we'll be providing even more challenges with a new survival track and action-packed new mode.”
The first pack, Survival at the Rock Pack will be available starting today. It comes with a brand new track (Minepit Park) and the new Survival mode. This will take the current Survival mode, which features big rig trucks dropping dangerous barrels, and challenges competitors to finish a set number of laps rather than compete for the fastest lap. It will cost $4.99 and be available for single and multiplayer.
The second set will come out next week (October 19). The Deadline Pack comes with a new mode titled, conveniently, Deadline. In this game type players will race against the clock and the focus will be on picking up items to freeze the clock. Drifting while gathering pickups adds even more pickups and also continues to freeze the clock. This single-player only mode is available for 12 tracks. This will also feature four new vehicles, the Ryback Coyote Special (new handling for the original Coyote), Cobretti Centaur (muscle car), Ryback Javelin (muscle car) and Hanzo Kanobo (truck). This will also cost $4.99.
Finally, on November 2, the Quarry Onslaught Pack will be released. It comes with a new track, Quarry, that can be played in the original Race, Elimination, Detonator and Air Strike/Revenge modes and also the new Onslaught and Deadline modes. The Onslaught game mode will be available for single and multiplayer, pitting players against one another (or the AI), and dodging waves of missiles from a circling helicopter. Players must dodge both missiles and opponents to get to the front of the pack to gain points. The mode can be used on nine tracks. It'll run you $9.99.
Finally, Disney Interactive also announced that the PSP version of Split/Second will be released on November 16, 2010. It will add a new track and challenge mode. Personally, I look forward to dodging helicopters and explosions on the go.
