Rock Band 2 Packed Full of Real World Gear

So that pretending you're a rock star is just that little bit easier!

We started off September with a lot of lists. We had the Gone Gold and Shipping Out lists, a gigantic list of SingStar songs for four new games in the series, the roster for Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe and the full track listing for Guitar Hero World Tour. We don't quite think we've had enough lists for the month yet however, so it's time for another!

As if clicking, banging and screaming away with the shiny new Rock Band 2 instruments wasn't enough, fans of the series can look forward to fully licensed instruments appearing in the game also. Joining the current list of gear in the game will be real world microphones, new guitars and an array of industry leading drumsets from some of the music industry's most prolific manufacturers. Whether or not this provides much assistance in the headbanging and rocking-out department remains to be seen, but the list of partners that Harmonix has teamed up with is impressive. Don't believe us? Well see for yourself:

[Guitars, Basses and Amplifiers]
Fender (Including Charvel, Gretsch, Jackson, Squier, SWR)

"We believe that working closely with our musical instrument partners is crucial to our mission to deliver the most authentic music experience possible," squealed Greg LoPiccolo, VP of Product Development for Harmonix Music Systems. "Whether it's picking out your P Bass, finding the right finish & hardware for your drums, or choosing the best microphone for your singer's style, having real world instruments included within the world of Rock Band 2 is essential."

Authentic indeed, but does anybody else get the feeling this is a slight jab at their main competitor Guitar Hero and their troubles with Gibson earlier this year? A little cheeky I think. Then again if my game boasted the largest music catalogue of any music-based videogame to date (over 100 songs!) combined with complete and immediate backwards compatibility with the original Rock Band, I'd be cheeky too.
