Rock Band Celebrates 500 Song Milestone With The Release Of No Doubt's: 'The Singles 1992-2003'
Holy Harajuku Batman!
Published: December 8, 2008
I don't think anybody quite expected downloadable content to take off so much this generation, especially considering it would be the first time console gamers were treated to being gouged over unlock codes for the latest Need for Speed game, but here we are. No doubt proving just how strong the Rock Band franchise is, Harmonix and MTV Games have proudly announced that the Rock Band catalogue of downloadable content now spans more than 500 songs with the release of their latest download pack. As the quote from the press release proves they're obviously feeling very smug about this but I think it's well deserved, and they've certainly given the Guitar Hero franchise a good run for it's money which can only be of benefit to bedroom rock gods around the planet.
"Thanks to all at Harmonix and MTV Games, who, along with our artist, management, label and publishing partners, put an incredible amount of work into achieving this milestone," stated Paul DeGooyer, Senior Vice President of Electronic Games and Music for MTV. "Now there can be 'No Doubt' that the Rock Band music platform offers the deepest and most diverse collection of songs available to gamers and music fans alike."
Who knows though? By the end of this generation consoles they could themselves inundated with letter bombs from hundreds of angry news reporters frustrated at having to keep tabs on all their releases. Me? I'll be sending a cow's head. Enough senseless whining however, I'm sure you're reading this for one reason only - to find out what goodies they've cooked up for you with their latest batch of DLC. The answer? Funky bass lines.
No Doubt's: 'The Singles 1992-2003' pack will include 13 master tracks from the band's 2003 album The Singles 1992-2003, which featured a compilation of hits from No Doubt's previous albums Tragic Kingdom, Return of Saturn, and Rock Steady.
