[Media Update] Rochard Is All About Guns Without Bullets
Tired of the typical sci-fi games? Rochard brings us some nice screens
Published: August 15, 2011
We don't often run Media Updates, and that often is a symptom of how busy the gaming industry is. But every now and then, we do so to spotlight some games that we're particularly interested in. We want you, the readers, to know about this game, too.
In their words (and we couldn't put it any better), "Rochard is a 3D side scrolling platformer involving astro miners, mind-boggling puzzles, gravity devices and epic mustaches." I'd like to impress upon you that said moustaches are quite impressive; this isn't just hype. The Finnish studio Recoil Games is hoping to make a big name for themselves with this ambitious title, and to whet your appetite, we have some images for you. Click here or look to the the links above. Honestly, there are a lot of links to the images.
The reason we feel you should know about this game isn't because "The Duke" Jon St. John is the voice of the titular character, but its use of physics... in space. Instead of using a conventional weapon, John Rochard uses a gravity gun to move objects in the environment and to hurdle objects at enemies. Add in an interesting use of neon colors and some 70s-80s styled music, and you have Rochard.
While we haven't been able to go hands-on with the game, we except we will in the coming months as the game moves closer to its release. Rochard will release exclusively on the PlayStation Network for $9.99.
