Resistance: Fall of Kids
Sorry, little ones, but Fall of Man is for big kids only.

Signs that it's a slow news day: 1) What should have been a simple one-paragraph story about a PSP game shipping turned into something... else, and 2) we see announcements of Insomniac complying with the ESRB overlords as something newsworthy. Yeah, it's slow. But hey, anything to avoid actually being proactive on news, right? Right?
It's not even a huge deal; Insomniac is expecting that Resistance: Fall of Man, a game about aliens (or are they?) invading an alternate timeline 1950s war-torn Britain, just miiiight get a M rating. Considering we watched a creature skitter up the front of a guy and impale his face with a talon, that's probably a wise decision. This means that certain materials (like, say, video footage of a guy's face getting aerated forcefully) is probably not stuff kids should look at.
The issues comes in that the Insomniac site as a whole is intended for folks 13 and up, but then the ESRB doesn't force anyone to say they're over 12. If you've got involuntary face perforation, though, well, that's kinda something you want to at least have users lie about their age to see. So that's what's happening. The official site for the game (and Insomniac's Resistence subsite) will both feature M-rated stuff when they launch, so they're breaking things off and likely locking them behind an age gate.
Like we said, slow news day.
Given that this is Insomniac's first M-rated game in the history of the company, it's a wise move, and means they probably won't get their pants sued off by the parents of kids who were raised on a diet of Spyro and Ratchet games. And remember, folks, Insomniac's first game was a first-person shooter. Hooray for things coming full circle more than a decade later!
If any more incredibly small news bits on the game happen to come out, we'll make sure we let you know.
