Insomniac Games, developer of such huge Sony exclusive franchises like Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and Resistance announced today that after 16 years of exclusively developing for Sony consoles, they have formed a partnership with EA regarding a yet to be announced future independent property.
The partnership allows the independent studio to maintain control over its new IP, while Electronic Arts overtakes the classic role as publisher (marketing and distribution).
In a Gamasutra interview with Insomniac's president, Ted Price, he made clear that the main intention for the company's move towards the partnership with EA was an urge to bring their games to a larger audience.
Price also made sure to point out that despite the fact that their upcoming IP will also appear on Xbox 360, their currently existing Sony exclusive franchises, Resistance and Ratchet & Clank will continue to see the company's full dedication and support. “We have just as strong a commitment of working with Sony as we ever have, and to our existing franchises Resistance and Ratchet & Clank.“
