Five Blasters Run Hot
The Ratchet & Clank weapon design contest has its five finalists. Time to vote!

As contests go, Insomniac Games' "Captain Qwark's My Blaster Runs Hot Weapons Contest" is pretty much filled to the brim with awesome. See, the idea was that the creators of the Ratchet & Clank series -- a series renowned for having some outrageously creative weapons -- decided to look to the fans for inspiration in crafting a new weapon for Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time.
It's so much more than just having your kooky design turned into a playable instrument of destruction (though of course there is that); the winner will have their design turned into a real-life replica in addition to getting it put into A Crack in Time (the teaser for which is puurrrdy, and can be viewed by clicking the Movies link near the top of this page). To help commemorate the contest, the Insomniacs whipped up a little video of their 10 favorite weapons from the series that you can see over at their latest PlayStation.Blog post (yes, we're dorky and include the period like a bunch of supernerds).
The running has been narrowed to five designs which you can read up on and vote for at Insomniac's official Ratchet & Clank web site. The winner will be announced at the San Diego Comicon on July 20th, so git to clicking! Gon on, git!
