Capcom Brings 'Samurai Heroes' Exclusive To PSN
Hack and slash your way through feudal Japan!

Samurai sword that never dulls? Check! Armor that leaves various parts of my body totally unprotected? Check! Legions upon legions of enemy warriors that will stand still while I slash them to pieces? Check! You are now prepared to take over Japan! Introducing the newest title in Capcom's lineup - Sengoku Basara: Samurai Heroes! Technically Samurai Heroes is the 3rd game in the series, the first two being released only in Japan, but the games have received enough reputation of their own to warrant an American release of this third installment in the Sengoku Basara series. In order to prepare American players for this new experience, Capcom is releasing an exclusive downloadable demo (via PSN).
Samurai Heroes will offer players the chance to take over 16th century feudal Japan with one of 15 playable characters. Each character has a unique weapon and moves that upgrade as you progress. Players also have access to the Basara meter, which when full can be used to perform Basara moves to devastate hordes of foes. Sounds like a pretty decent hack 'n slash title thus far, right? Here's a little flavor for you though: based on the demo and gameplay videos released, it would appear that Samurai Heroes also offers players a bit more storyline and purpose to go along with their take-over-the-country theme. The characters interact, and there is a driving force behind their actions in the form of a regional divide that occurred in Japan during the time period (yes, the game is "based on" historical people & events).
The script may make you roll your eyes with lines like, "May my fists unite all!" But if you enjoy hack & slash games, flashy super moves, snappy banter and legions of bad guys to cut up, then this is the new title for you! The settings look well done and unique - from farm land and streams to large fortresses. And the characters are definitely something special, including a samurai with a cannon mounted on his back and a woman wielding fire arms. Samurai Heroes is slated for release on October 12, 2010, but Capcom has decided to throw us a bone by offering a downloadable demo (exclusive for the PS3) that will be available today.
