Duke Nukem Forever Is Coming Out?
There have been many rumors and announcements the past few years. Are these going to come true?

PC gaming has come a long way since the early First Person Shooter days. During the end of the Clinton Administration in the United States, a game titled Duke Nukem Forever was announced. People eagerly awaited this follow up to the beloved Duke Nukem 3D since April 28th, 1997.
It has been a while. So long, in fact, that this game has gone in and out of vaporware status, believed by many that it will never come out. Every few years, this game was hinted at or tied to one studio or another, and even more so as of late. But today, 2K Games and Gearbox Software (the studio behind Borderlands) announced the continued development of Duke Nukem Forever.
"All great things take time... a lot of time," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K, as he giggled with glee. "After a hiatus from the video game world, Duke Nukem is back and better than ever. The return of the King from the glory days of shooters will satisfy our patient, die-hard fans, as well as a new generation of bubble gum-chewing, flat top and shades-wearing bad-asses. Make no mistake about it - Duke Nukem Forever is a testament to the era of when shooters were bodacious and fun."
It doesn't sound like the Duke is going to be updated in terms of content that much, which will be very interesting to see as more comes to light. Along with the game's announcement, 2K made it known that they have the exclusive publishing rights to the franchise for the foreseeable future.
“Hail to the king, baby! It's unbelievable, it kicks ass and it's totally going to happen!” said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software, "Gearbox has enabled die-hard key Duke Nukem franchise builders and skilled veteran game makers to stand together and deliver. All gamers deserve a happy ending and after all of us gamers feeling the full range of emotions about Duke Nukem Forever, I am thrilled to be in a position with the trust, power and means to make it happen. Am I crazy? Balls of steel, baby, balls of steel!”
Gearbox is definitely a good fit for the Duke Nukem, especially after seeing how strong Borderlands was. We enjoyed it, for sure. We will continue to wait patiently for more as we approach the 2011 release.
Oh, and before we forget, anyone at PAX right now can check out "The King" at 2K's booth (#3417), provided you are 17 years of age or older. Let us know what you think in the comments if you get to see it!
