We'll spare you all the verbose displays of affection, as you're likely already familiar with the amount of love we're showing this game. In short, it's an action RPG that is equal parts mind melting and ego deconstructing. What we can probably share with you today is that Atlus has informed us of the exact date you'll be calling out of work to play Demon’s Souls: October 6.
Yes, that's right, October 6 is the day you learn the true definition of pain. That girl in high school who left you for the rich, BMW-driving kid? That's nothing. The professor who told you your writing wasn't good enough for the letters section of a community newspaper? No comparison. We could go on, but harsh reality is making a few of us teary-eyed.
In true Atlus fashion, a deluxe edition with extra goodies will be available for $69.99, compared to the standard version which be priced at $59.99. That extra cash buys you a 150-plus page strategy that will not be available elsewhere and a slipcase for your precious, precious game case. Those who decide to pre-order either version will receive an art book with your standard array of concept sketches and whatnot.
Since we love Atlus so much, here's a big ol’ quote from a very important person: "Atlus Spoils is all about giving back to our fans and thanking them for their support, and we're excited to be able to do something very special for Demon's Souls," stated Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Atlus. "On October 6th, PLAYSTATION 3 system owners will be treated to the definitive release of what many consider to be the most innovative action RPG in recent memory. With both the standard and deluxe versions of the game accompanied by irresistible North American exclusives, like a special pre-order bonus art book, we hope this is an offer patient Demon's Souls fans will be hard-pressed to resist."
So remember, have your $59.99 or $69.99 ready on October 6 because, well, we said so.
