Gamecock, meet amBX, a technology that extends the visual experience of gaming out into the real world via lights, sounds, color, and rumble. amBX, meet Gamecock, makers of off the wall games like Hail to the Chimp and the upcoming Velvet Assassin. Now that the introductions are out of the way, you two are going to be working together in the near future.

Philips, makers of the amBX technology, have signed a licensing agreement with Gamecock Media Group for use of the amBX technology in Velvet Assassin and Legendary. Trailers of the games were shown off at the Expo for Interactive Entertainment, Independent and Original (affectionately known as E.I.E.I.O) in Austin, Texas, and from what we could see, things looked good.

"Gamecock is another top drawer publisher signing for amBX," commented Jo Cooke, Chief Marketing Officer, amBX. "Our involvement with Gamecock at E.I.E.I.O. allowed us to show off slick amBX trailers for Legendary and Velvet Assassin to not only a huge number of dedicated gamers, but also the 10,000 music fans attending South by Southwest, Austin's premiere live music, film and entertainment event, taking place the same week. Reaching out to the wider market is very much part of our strategy for amBX for 2008."

Thus far, Philips has licensed the technology into all sorts of crazy peripherals, with a number of developers already jumping on board to use it like Ubisoft, Codemasters, Gas Powered Gas, Riot Games, Sumo Digital, and Rivers Run Red.

Hey, it might not be the next step in gaming, but it's a nice diversion. At least the colors are pretty.
