Do you know much about Wilfrid Laurier University? Neither do I! Apparently it's Canadian, so I don't know what that's all aboot. I do know who could ask though, and that's new Executive Vice President, Production over at THQ, Ron Moravek!

Besides being the pride of Waterloo and the world's biggest Golden Hawks fan, Mr. Moravek was a co-founder of Relic Entertainment and held high ranking positions at EA Canada. With over 14 years of industry experience, there's no way Ron could be considered green behind the ears. Here's what Ron and Jason Rubin (President of THQ also know as "Mr. Crash Bandicoot") had to say about working together:

“I am thrilled to be re-joining THQ and to be working with Jason and the development teams around the world to deliver high-quality games and digitally connected experiences,” said Moravek. “There are many exciting changes affecting the videogame industry today, and I look forward to building new games and experiences with Jason and the team at THQ.”

“Ron is an exceptional development executive with unique perspective on the industry from both a creative and business point of view,” said Rubin. “His entrepreneurial experience as well as his ability to drive dynamic teams is a great fit for our strategic objectives. Additionally, Ron’s experience building high-quality products will help us continue to deliver great games and build upon our foundation to innovate digitally in the future.”

THQ announces this news just days before they are set to reveal their Fiscal 2013 First Quarter results on August 6th. Far be it from me to speculate on how you have first quarter RESULTS for next year already. I wish we had some snappy quotes for Ron and Jason to plug in about this whole conundrum, but they might just be on the conference call if you dial in. If you care at all about this sort of business, check out THQ Investors homepage for just how to join the party.

[UPDATE] More good news for the folks in Agora Hills: THQ's stock has managed to trade above a buck for 10 consecutive trading days, thus keeping them in compliance with NASDAQ rules. De-listing has apparently been staved off for now, and we're hoping it's the start of an upward climb for the company.
