Who likes Free-to-Play? We like Free-to-Play!
EVE Online is pretty venerable in terms of MMO's, outlasting dozens upon dozens of upstarts to remain the premiere space-trading simulation and providing a gathering place for griefers. After almost a decade, they are taking the almost unprecedented step of integrating a second game into the universe.
Yes, Dust 514 is going to bring intense infantry battles to the surface of the planets of the EVE universe, with the idea being your buddies playing EVE will be able to call down aerial bombardments to help lay waste to your enemies!
The best part (well, one of the best parts) is they are integrating cross-play with the PS3, so you'll be able to shoot baddies on your couch while your buddy owns the skies on a laptop right next to you. It's not quite unprecedented, but it's still rare enough that it's kind of a big deal.
If you want to be on the ground floor of testing out this new thing, well, hopefully you've been playing a lot of EVE the last few years, because those folks get first crack at it. Or if you had attended the EVE fest in Iceland, you already got your invite. Everyone else will have to wait until E3 when more details will be revealed.
