Now about that time machine...

I can't wait for Armored Core V. I was there when the news broke about its development, I envied Sam Bishop getting some juicy details and I have patiently waited for any news on the game's release. It has sat atop my Amazon wishlist at the "highest priority" since I could add it.

Now we know when the spiritual successor of Chromehounds will be gracing our favorite platform: March 20. The franchise has needed a kick in the butt and thankfully From Software is on the case and attempting to make right the misstep that was Armored Core 4. Sure, it wasn't a bad game by any means but this is a franchise that sat atop the genre and now both seem to have been forgotten in the sands of time.

“Gamers have been eagerly anticipating the release of Armored Core V, which will bring strategic mech combat to new heights,” said Eiichi Nakajima, studio head, From Software, Inc. “With cooperative missions, a persistent online world battling for territories and epic team battles, Armored Core V is the complete action shooter package.”

The all new Operator Mode gives one player a leadership role by being able to supply his Armored Core teammates with enemy positions, movements and details.

“A quick trigger finger and razor-sharp reflexes won’t always turn the tide of battle in Armored Core V,” said Carlson Choi, Vice President of Marketing, Namco Bandai Games America. “The Operator adds a new layer of strategy orchestrating his team of Armored Cores to victory by finding the enemy’s weaknesses.”

Unfortunately it seems that Gamestop has wiggled their way in and snatched up some exclusive pre-order DLC. If you plop your cash with the 'Stop you'll get the "Heavy Assault Pack," whatever that includes is a mystery (though Namco Bandai claims it will have additional weapons and parts to give players a day one advantage). Even the product page has no clue of just what is in there but I'm sure we'll find out in the coming weeks. Check back for those and more details leading up to Armored Core V's release two months from now!
