Capcom Confirms Resident Evil 6
Thursdays aren't so bad after all.

So, Resident Evil 6. The game has been rumored for months now, with speculation that it would appear at last year's E3 and the Tokyo Game Show. That left many folks disappointed but then the rumors started spreading like wildfire after Gamestop put up some promotional displays showing the game's logo and release date of November 20, 2012.
The story takes place ten years after the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Leon S. Kennedy is due to be at the President's side but, as chance would have it, there is a bioterrorist attack. Leon is pitted against his personal friend, who has been transformed beyond recognition, and he must make a difficult decision of just what to do. Meanwhile, in China, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield finds the area to also be under a bioterrorist attack.
Chris and Leon must work together to face this global threat and save humanity once again. They will be joined with new characters who have their own goals and reasons to be involved. Capcom promises that the game will have a "relentless dramatic horror experience" and I'm inclined to believe them.
“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” commented Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.”
Hiroyuki Kobayashi, Resident Evil 6 Executive Producer added: “From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror. We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers.”
Along with this announcement, Capcom has also started a pre-order campaign today. The usual suspects are involved, Gamestop, Amazon, and Best Buy will each get an exclusive map that will function with various modes in the game (ugh, retailer specific DLC rains on this parade). Further details will be revealed at a later date but it's an unfortunate blemish on an otherwise amazing occurrence.
Oh, and just one more thing:
