Fan-Voted Cover Athletes Come to Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 13

Yep, pick your favorite golfers and they just might end up chilling along with Tiger on the cover.

As of this year's entries, EA Sports has been getting fans in on the decision making process for selecting the athletes that will appear on the cover of the franchises like Madden and NCAA Football. Apparently it went over rather well with the fan base, so it was only natural that the studio would give it a shot with next year's Tiger Woods entry.

Starting this week and stretching on until the 23rd, fans can get in on the bracketed eliminations for both the North America and European covers for Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 13 over at EA's official Facebook page. Eight players from each region will be pitted against each other, Highlander-style (okay, it's more like a normal sports bracket) until there can be only one.

The pool, selected and seeded by culling a whole bunch of stats like "Fandom" (a combination of Facebook fans, official web site traffic and Twitter followers), FedExCup/Race to Dubai Rankings and, of course, Official World Golf Rankings, has spat out an impressive list of possible candidates. The combined group of 16 boasts among them multiple rookie and player of the year honors, four major wins (two of 'em being the last couple US Opens) and 100+ PGA TOUR and European Tour top slots. Suffice it to say, they're not exactly a losing lot.

The voting process, currently scheduled to reach a conclusion and announcement on October 24th (though EA cautions that might change), has already begun, but you may want to know who's in the running so far. We're happy to oblige:

[Ze Americans]
Ben Crane
Rickie Fowler
Jim Furyk
Dustin Johnson
Zach Johnson
Hunter Mahan
Rocco Mediate
Bubba Watson

[Los Eurogolfers]
Paul Casey
Luke Donald
Ross Fisher
Graeme McDowell
Rory McIlroy
Edoardo Molinari
Ian Poulter
Justin Rose

And there you have it. Though the winners will be announced later this month, the actual cover won't make it into stores until sometime next March. Plenty of time to start screaming and fighting about who should have won after the announcement, and of course more than enough to begin hurling barbed comments during the voting as well. Get thee over to thine official Facebook page for votings post-haste. Wouldn't want your vote to be lost in the shuffle, would you?
