2K Sports Scores on Launch
NHL 2K7 and NBA 2K7 on Day One? You better believe it.
Published: November 7, 2006
We'll be the first to admit it: we were sliiiighty frustrated after Sony's Gamer's Day '06 when the company, while confirming a line-up of 21 titles for the launch of the PlayStation 3, cut corners by shoving the entire mess of 'em under a still-hazy release window deemed "through the holidays." We wanna know our Day One titles, darn it!
So kudos to 2K Sports, who today went ahead and cleared up any potential confusion by confirming the release of both NBA 2K7 and NHL 2K7 on launch day. That's November 17, mind you. As in, 10 days away. Yeah, we can't believe it either. No, we won't buy you a free PS3, but we will be happy to squeeze in a fitting company quote. It's our forte, y'know.
"With the power of the PLAYSTATION 3 system, 2K Sports continues to make remarkable strides in the development of next-generation console games," assures Greg Thomas, president of Visual Concepts, a 2K Sports studio. "The capabilities of the Cell processor have allowed us to deliver the next-generation quality of visuals and fluid animations that gamers expect. The SIXAXIS wireless controller will introduce an entirely new way for gamers to enjoy our titles and give our development teams new, exciting ideas to bring unique features to our sports titles."
Indeed, both titles will adapt the motion-sensitive sexiness into gameplay one way or another. For NBA 2K7, it means controlling-tilting free-throws (with Signature Style animations and full 1080p to watch it in), while NHL 2K7 puts it to use with full-motion goalie movements (with the tender's unique perspective lovingly dubbed Crease Control) and the ability to dish out checks with a push of the controller. Oh, the possibilities!
Rejoice, sports fans. Come launch day, these are two titles you can rest assured will be sitting snugly on stores shelves, just waiting you to fork over a combined $120 for 'em and claim ownership. Ain't no thang for that bulging budget of yours, we're told.
