OK, so I know most of you probably are not really sports fans. In fact you probably detest sports. Even video game sports. But I love sports. I can't even tell you WHY I love sports. Overpaid athletes (even in college!), expensive tickets, annoying TV coverage... who WOULD get into that? Me, OK? I like just about every sport. I'll even watch those world's strongest man competitions from 1997 that are on ESPN 2 during the day. I don't care. My favorite TV show of all time? Cheap Seats, which is (was) essentially MST3K for old weird sports highlights.
If you DO like sports, especially the NBA (my favorite), then hopefully you watched the Bulls-Celtics playoff series last spring. Full of epic, overtime games (including a 3 overtime doozy) and plently of amazing last second shots, it may have been the greatest playoff series of all time. One of the biggest stars was rookie point guard Derrick Rose, who essentially had one of the most dominating rookie performances seen in the playoffs. Why the hell am I talking about all this?
Well, Derrick Rose is the spokesman for the upcoming downloadable game NBA2K10 : Draft Combine. Never mind the fact that I have already poo-poo'ed the idea of this game (I mean, NBA Draft Combine? I love sports, and I have never heard of an NBA Draft Combine, only NFL), I'm sure some of you out there are dying to run some prospects through drills. But look what Derrick had to say!
“It’s a great feeling to partner with 2K Sports and represent the greatest basketball franchise on the planet,” said Rose, point guard for the Chicago Bulls. “I look forward to providing my insights of what that first year in the league is really like, and what it takes to stay on top of your game. This season, NBA 2K10: Draft Combine will be a place where fans can experience the life of a player trying to make it to the NBA. The drills are challenging, and the group scrimmages are always extremely competitive with everyone looking to improve their draft stock as well. It’s as real as it gets.”
So there you have it... NBA 2K10 : Draft Combine, coming on August 26th!
