AGEIA Systems' PhysX demonstrations were one of the most promising next-gen physics showcases to come out of the Consumer Electronics show last March, chiefly among them something called CellFactor by then-unknown middleware and development house Artificial Studios. Though PhysX is a dedicated physics card for PCs, AGEIA has been a partner with Sony in creating tools for PlayStation 3 developers almost since the system was announced.

So what does any of this have to do with SouthPeak Interactive? Plenty. See, Artificial Studios is planning more than just tech demos with the PhysX technology, they're keenly interested in bringing it all to brear on next-gen systems as well -- specifically the PS3's CELL processor and dedicated SPUs that can handle all the physics work. Their first next-gen game, Monster Madness will be SouthPeak's first too, and the partnership has both parties all kinds of lovey-dovey.

"SouthPeak's breadth of knowledge within the videogame space was very appealing to us," gushed Artificial president Jeremy Stieglitz. "With more than 10 years of publishing experience, we are excited to be working with them on our upcoming titles."

"We are thrilled about our new relationship with Artificial Studios - we think they are one of the hottest up-and-coming development studios around," lavished Katie Morgan, executive vice president of SouthPeak Interactive. "We look forward to working with them on their forthcoming releases."

We sadly won't be able to shake hands with the boys and girls at Artificial, since they decided to have meetings up in freakin' West Hollywood and we're stuck downtown, but you can bet we're going to be dooling at all the psyics-enabled stuff flying around in the Monster Madness demos shown at SouthPeak's booth. If we happen to pick up any new juicy news, we'll pass it along.
