Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. dropped a little tidbit of information today about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PlayStation 3, specifically the bundles that gamers will be able to get their hands on when it releases on June 12th.
Players can get their MGS4 in two flavors: standard and limited. As any rabid fan can tell you, the story revolves around Solid Snake's final chapter in the saga, as he pursues his arch nemesis, Liquid Ocelot. With new abilities and gadgets, Snake infiltrates enemy territory in the Middle East, South America, and more to get his hands on Liquid Ocelot. The game includes a Metal Gear Online "Starter Pack", which is a complete multiplayer component to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
The standard edition will retail for $59.99 but the limited edition will go for $84.99. For your trouble, you'll get collectible packaging with exclusive artwork by famed Kojima Productions illustrator Yoji Shinkawa, as well as an additional Blu-ray disc featuring two "making of" documentaries. The documentaries include interviews with Hideo Kojima, creator of Metal Gear Solid. There's also a soundtrack CD for the game. But there's one hitch: the limited edition can only be scored at Gamestop.
If that's not enough, there's a special pre-sale program going on at participating retailers. Customers who pre-order either edition of the game will get a copy of Mega Gear Saga Volume 2 DVD, which has original video content focusing primarily on the interconnected history between all of the "Snakes": Big Boss (Naked Snake), Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake, and, of course, Solid Snake. There's also a compendium of MGS4 trailers. Additionally, each DVD allocated during the pre-order period will get a unique voucher code that will let players download the Metal Gear Online Beta. That download will be available between April 17th to May 5th, but the actual Beta won't start until April 21st and ends on May 5th.
This is one of the most anticipated games of the year and you'd be mad not to pre-order the limited edition and get as much merchandise as you can!
