Konami Announces Additions to MGO
Checkpoints and infinite ammo abound.

If you were planning on tearing yourself away from Metal Gear Online sometime soon, Konami's next two updates might just make you change your mind. Between now and the end of May two updates will be released, one focusing on a new gameplay mode and the other, well, focusing on making people very, very angry.
On May 12, the Race Mission mode will be released, which pits a red team against a blue team as each attempts to carry it's designated target to various checkpoints. The blue team will seek out the KEROTAN target while the red team searches for the GA-KO target. Once found, each team must carry their respective targets to a checkpoint that appears once the target has been acquired. Drop the target or move too slow and you'll need to refind your target and head for a new checkpoint.
If you don't know anything about KEROTAN or GA-KO, we suggest you get to googling. Have fun raising a confused eyebrow.
On May 26, Konami will unleash the Patriot feature, which randomly makes a few players a "Patriot" every week, granting them a special power until the next ranking update. What power you ask? Why, the power to make small children curse over voice comms. An Internet first, I assume. Yes, that's right, a "Patriot" will have access to the "Patriot" 5.56mm Hand Rifle, which comes stocked with infinite ammunition and no need to be reloaded. We're not sure why "Patriot" needs to be quoted constantly or why in god's name anyone needs a hand rifle, but there you have it.
Konami would also like us to remind you that three expansion packs - GENE, MEME and SCENE - are available for purchase, but since they didn't include prices in their release we're going to make you look them up on your own. Yeah, cold, we know.
