[Shipping Out] Week of January 17th
It's a sequel week. LittleBigPlanet 2 and Mass Effect 2 hit stores.
Published: January 17, 2011
Welcome to Shipping Out, our weekly notice of all them games that ship from publishers to retailers in preparation for their street date a day later. In many cases, these games won't be on store shelves until tomorrow, but in the interest of getting the word out, letting the PR departments have their fancy quotes and saving us sanity as the weekly releases pile up, we're going to be consolidating everything down into one handy little news story at the end of the day, along with this description. Neat, eh? And lazy!
[PlayStation 3]
LittleBigPlanet 2 - Media Molecule has been super busy the last few months making sure LittleBigPlanet 2 is incredible. The game was delayed near the end of the year but the public beta test was also extended and what we saw from that was very promising. The game includes a 30 level campaign, new tools to play with, and more importantly a overhauled level/game creator that gives players a huge amount of freedom to make just about anything they can dream up. Levels created in the beta test were amazing and that didn't even offer everything that will be available in the retail version. We are very excited to see what will be created in the coming months.
Mass Effect 2 - It has been a long wait to see Mass Effect 2 on the PlayStation 3 but the wait is finally over. Play as Commander Shepard and build a crew of some of the most elite soldiers in the galaxy as you try unravel a mystery that involves human colonies completely disappearing. The game has an amazing amount of character development and a combat system with a lot of depth. Choose from multiple conversation options that can directly affect not only your character and the general area you are in but the game world as a whole. This was one of the most talked about games of 2010 and now PlayStation 3 owners get to experience it first hand.
[PSN]
Mass Effect 2 - It's on PSN as well? Exciting!
Modern Combat: Domination - This multiplayer focused FPS on PSN has you fighting it out with 15 other players across 6 different game modes and includes leaderboards. Also has Move support!
[PSP]
Ys I & II Chronicles - Remakes of these two classic Japanese RPGs with high-def 2D graphics and a reworked soundtrack. Also included is the original artwork and soundtrack. Four difficulty levels and a time trial mode add to the new content.
Publishers: want to make sure we've got your games in our weekly Shipping Out blurbs? Just kick over those shipping press releases to Shipping Out (at) TotalPlayStation (dot) com and we'll make sure they get tossed into the rotation.
Now go, gamers, go and spend, spend, spend!
