Activision Locks Down Rock Spots
Sponsorships galore are headed your way later this week with Guitar Hero III sponsors.

As the Guitar Hero franchise as progressed, more and more real-world companies have jumped in to provide their names and at times even equipment as in-game sponsorship material. It started with the first game's replica Gibson SG controller, then spiraled out into multiple sponsor deals for everything from strings to stacks. With Guitar Hero III, however, Activision is pulling out all the sponsored stops.
"By forging exclusive relationships with key companies in the music and consumer packaged goods industries we are able to bring an even greater depth of realism to Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock," coolly explained Dave Anderson, sr. bizdev director at Activision. "From venues like Pontiac Garage, to customized guitars from Axe, the game delivers the ultimate rock and roll experience."
One could debate the importance or even relevance of having actual brands in a game about playing a little plastic toy guitar, but hey, whatever helps Activision feel like they're getting their money's worth. For those curious, that money got them: Gibson, Guitar Center Audio-Technica, Crate, Ernie Ball, Krank, Line 6, Mackie and Zildjian, plus Alternative Press (hey Casey!), Decibel, Guitar Player, Kerrang and Paste magazines. Not a bad list, really.
Just remember to keep an eye out for 'em while simultaneously pounding your Grey Goose Vodka and Red Bull Energy Drink adult beverages, noshing on the new Dominoes Philly Cheesesteak Pizza and banging out a sweet solo on your replica Gibson Les Paul controller. Rawwwwwwk!
