"Upcoming next-generation Rockstar Games titles" to integrate NaturalMotion's euphoria engine. Oh, whatever could they be?

We're not too sure about this whole next-generation thing. No, not because of a certain black brick's poor corporate manuvers/press or of the ever-raging console wars, but to know that so many companies have made known their intentions of licensing some seriously intimidating technology and hardware, only to refuse to namedrop any of the project utilizing it!

So you can imagine how steamed (a.k.a. psyched) we were to see Rockstar Games partnering up with the 3D animation wizards at NaturalMotion, with the good intention of utilizing the euphoria engine on several upcoming next-gen titles. Yes, that's the same euphoria engine (just make sure it's all lowercase. We're hip like that) that's making some astounding breakthroughs in mimicking the human body and its motor nervous system, producing in-game characters that you'll never see repeating the same action twice. Now where might something like that come in handy...

"euphoria is about giving people an interactive experience they have never seen before. We now have the processing power to simulate humans, and the possibilities for games are endless," exudes Torsten Reil, CEO of NaturalMotion.

He continues, "In Rockstar, we have found a partner that shares this vision, and is renowned for creating some of the most ground-breaking and immersive games in the industry. We are thrilled and honored to work with a partner of such high caliber, and look forward to helping create amazing titles."

The companies promise further details on the said titles at a later date, but after seeing this official countdown to the very first GTA4 trailer (it's March 29th, so you know) pop up on the Web, we're already tingling with suspicion. We'll keep you posted.
