EA Sports football game has unprecedented opening day sales? Yawn, sounds like another record for Madden '12, right? Nope, you silly American, it's the REAL football! That's right, FIFA '12 sold 3.2 MILLION units in the first week (on all platforms). That's a pretty damn impressive number, even for EA.

While Scott is still hard at work on the TPS review (we like to be thorough here), the reviews that are already in have achieved the highest aggregate score of any sports game this generation. Sorry, PES, your brief run at the top of the footie simulations may have come to an end.

“FIFA 12 is a stunning achievement by our team at EA Canada,” said Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice-President of EA SPORTS. “The massive FIFA online community has overwhelmingly connected to the new live services in the game, including EA SPORTS Football Club, and we intend to keep them engaged all season long as FIFA 12 follows the heartbeat of the football season.”

Besides just being a great soccer sim, this years FIFA game also includes the FIFA Ultimate Team mode that lets you build and manage your own club and play with your favorite superstars, somewhat reminiscent of the NFL Head Coach mode that EA has included in the Madden franchise in past years. Stat geeks like myself will appreciate this Championship Manager-lite mode.

Also new is the EA SPORTS Football Club where you can pledge your allegiance to your favorite club with the "Support Your Club" feature that lets fans tell everyone else who they root for. In case you were interested, here is how the voting has broken down so far:
