Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires Invades Stores
You still don't want to pursue Lu Bu

Can it really be time for another entrant in the Dynasty Warriors series? It sure can! Koei is now shipping out Dynasty Warriors 6 : Empires to the store nearest you. Marking the 20th entry in the series, and the 30th overall including spinoffs, DW6:E takes the classic Dynasty Warriors gameplay and brings back “Edit Mode” where players can create their own character. Featuring an extensive character editing system with options to customize a warrior's gender, build, skin tone, facial features, voice, clothing, weapon and more, you can finally realize your dream of having Barack Obama battling Zhang Fei for control of that rebellious province (no, not Canada). As the name implies, those looking for an all new experience should look elsewhere, as DW6:E is definitely more of an expansion of Dynasty Warriors 6 than an all new entry.
That isn’t to say that there aren’t some new features, however. DW6:E offers some new strategies in the battlefield, such as using mountain ledges and waterways to infiltrate enemy bases and launch surprise attacks on supply depots to change the flow of battle. But with the give, there is always some take, and this newest iteration of the series removes Free Mode, instead opting for a more full and rounded Empire Mode, with the option of being a Ronin (unaligned wanderer), Officer or Ruler of one of the kingdoms. You can step down from your force at any time, and can make oaths of friendships with fellow officers and even marry (can moral decisions be far behind?).
Fans of the series will also be excited to learn that Koei plans plenty of DLC with this release, with additional background music and character costumes confirmed to be coming this July. If that doesn’t really grab you (and it shouldn’t), there is also the possibility of more characters being added in later as well, but that has yet to be confirmed. As the 4th game in the DW6 family, it might be a safe bet to say this is the final piece of this iteration of the series, so hopefully our next update will be the announcement of DW7! (Or Samurai Warriors 4. Or Warriors Orochi Z squared. Or Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 Overdrive)
