The "rotate and drop pieces" genre will never die.

I'm a sucker for puzzle games. No question. I still play Peggle regularly, even after two years and 4 platforms. Hell, I play anything from PopCap. I have played almost every puzzle game going back to Riddle of the Sphinx on Atari 2600 (I say that and Raiders of the Lost Ark are the original puzzle games, damn it). So I am totally excited for the newest game from Blitz Arcade and Atlus, Droplitz, which hits for the PlayStation 3 on the PSN store today. Droplitz is an addictive puzzler that's all about strategically twisting and linking mismatched dials (you've seen this before, think sort of like the BioShock hacking game)to save the precious droplitz (get it?)an doffers four different play modes, a variety of board sizes, and infinite replayability. Droplitz promises to drain your time away! (get it? get it?)

With a dearth of new releases on the horizon, I can see myself spending countless hours spinning those dials "just one more time" if this game can live up to the hype. Just look at what the somewhat dubiously named Game Stooge had to say... "Droplitz is the best downloadable action-puzzler since Plants vs. Zombies, and highly recommended..." Daemon Hatfield over at IGN says "It'll claim several hours of your life before you even notice they're gone."

Here's hoping for something that really grabs me, although I have to admit that Blitz's past work of PowerUp Forever, Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, and those Burger King games makes me want to try the demo before I drop (get it???) $9.95 on it. Hey, maybe we'll get a review up here! Sam?
