[New Releases] November 17th
Once again, more than just God of War and Assassins Creed 2...
Published: November 17, 2009
Well this weeks AAA release is Assassin's Creed 2, although some might argue it is more of a single A release... but that's not what we are here for. We are here to tell you what's new this week! And the big title is definitely Ubisoft's sequel to their disappointing 2008 release... but of course, that isn't it...
Yep, I know, you are all excited about the God of War collection (I haven't even played my PS2 copies yet! Sheesh!), but honestly, I'm not sure that should even count as a new release. We'll give 'em the benefit of the doubt in this case though, since they ARE remastered and they DID include the GoW 3 demo. But hey, guess what, there are some other games out there too! They deserve you love!

Tony Hawk : RIDE
“Tony Hawk: RIDE is THE new way to play. It gives a whole new meaning to game night by allowing the entire family to challenge one another to competitions that are as fun to watch as they are to play,” said Rob Kostich, head of marketing, licensed products, Activision Publishing, Inc. “It’s the perfect activity for the entire family this holiday season…and anytime of the year.”
“This is the game I’ve always wanted to make,” said legendary pro skater Tony Hawk. “The skateboard peripheral opens up a whole new level of interactivity and physicality, allowing players to control the action with their whole body. I can’t wait for everyone to jump on the board and ride.”
Tony Hawk: RIDE takes the popular action sports video game franchise in an all-new direction. The wireless skateboard controller was designed in conjunction with the game to offer a dynamic gaming experience built from the ground up. The innovative motion sensing peripheral offers a completely new way to play games. Without complex button combinations or analog sticks, gamers of various skill levels can literally step on the board and play.
Honestly, I stopped caring about the series right around Tony Hawk 4, but hey, if you are into collecting expensive peripherals, head to the store NOW!
Lego Indiana Jones 2 : The Adventure Continues
Is it just me, or should this game be called "The Temple of Duplo" or something?
Developed by the same team at Traveller’s Tales that created the award-winning LEGO® Indiana Jones™: The Original Adventures and the LEGO® Star Wars™ series, LEGO Indiana Jones 2 presents a tongue-in-cheek take on all four cinematic adventures of pop culture’s most iconic archaeologist, including for the first time ever Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Players will also get to experience all-new re-tellings of the classic movies, with new objectives and brand new levels, including devious boss fights and white knuckle chase scenes. Fans can also fight the powers of evil with Indy’s newly enhanced whip and interact with worlds filled with more objects and enemies than ever before.
For the first time ever, players can also craft their own unique LEGO adventures with the Build Your Own Adventure mode. Gamers can create unique levels using the same tools TT Games use to assemble unique LEGO levels, complete with a wide array of set pieces, including interactive objects, characters and even the ability to raise and lower the terrain. For added authenticity, created levels can even be combined with existing levels in the game, resulting in a personal and highly customizable way to expand the LEGO® Indiana Jones™ 2: The Adventure Continues gameplay experience.
Soooo.... didn't they cover the movies in the first game too? I guess this one has the enhanced whip though, so it's all good...
Chaotic : Shadow Warriors
OK, when I first saw the title of this game, I thought for sure it was a remake of the classic Build-engine game "Shadow Warrior". Who want's some WANG! Alas, my hopes were dashed when I learned that this is some sort of game based on a cartoon and a trading card game. Ah well, life is full of little disappointments...
In Chaotic: Shadow Warriors players take on the role of Tom, the lead character from the animated series, and explore the vast world of Perim, scouring the lush environments for powerful Mugic™ (magic) spells, Battlegear and new Creatures to collect. The single player story, created by the TV show’s writers, lets players engage in intense and dramatic battles while watching their favorite characters come to life. Seasoned players can take it to the next level and face opponents locally or online through the PlayStation Network.
“Chaotic: Shadow Warriors is a new level of competition for Chaotic fans and a lot of fun for gamers open to something new,” said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. “The unusually compelling gameplay and richly imagined world is truly dramatic.”
Truly a dramatic game!

Kenka Bancho : Badass Rumble
Oh Atlus, how I love thee! Along with Nippon Ichi Software, these guys top my list of coolest import games with the coolest titles around! Plus, the consistently write the funniest and most creative press releases we see here at the office. A game about being the best high-school delinquent you can be? Hits a little close to home, but if Sam would just get me my review copy, I'd be the baddest ass in no time!
As a high school misfit on a class trip, your mission is clear: claim your territory, beat the crud out of anyone who says otherwise, and make a name for yourself as the most dangerous, most intimidating, most lethal teenage miscreant loose on the streets of an unfortunate Japanese city. Fights are mostly what you'd expect from such a premise, meaning they are filled with extreme, wanton violence and deft fist-foot-forehead management. Oh, and lasers shooting from your eyes.
Key Features
- How will you choose to spend your time? -- You have 7 days to wander through the city of Kyouto and discover all it has to offer a teenage hoodlum like you; every minute counts! Travel around and interact with a diverse population. Pick a fight with virtually anyone, but beware the consequences... and the cops. With too much to see and do in a single playthrough, you'll definitely need to plan on return visits.
- Badass gameplay -- Becoming the one bancho to rule them all requires a wide repertoire of fighting moves, and you have an entire nation's worth to learn and incorporate into your strategy. Fling insults and hurl punches as you try to take down Japan's 47 banchos. Then, customize your fighting menu with their region's special moves!
- Extra game modes -- Two-player co-op ad hoc mode lets you run around with a friend to gain additional experience. Night Out mode lets you sneak out of the hotel after curfew to challenge Yakuza roaming about the town.
BADASS!
