It's no secret that the PlayStation brand is used by almost every hip-hop artist on the planet. MTV Cribs once featured dozens of artists with decked out car dashboards sporting a PlayStation or PlayStation 2. That's a little passe in this day and age when soccer moms are essentially doing the exact same thing in their mini-vans, so artists have to take it one step further: jumping into the PlayStation itself.

Enter Wyclef Jean with the music video for his latest single "Fast Car". Featuring PSP, PS3, and EA's Burnout Paradise, Jean races onscreen with a story that picks up where it left off in his previous single "Sweetest Girl". After getting a message via PSP, he accesses his PS3 and jumps into the world of Burnout Paradise, which serves as the video's visual backdrop. Even the PlayStation Eye makes an appearance in this PS orgy.

"When you're on tour, you have plenty of time, and every artist I know spends time on a tour bus with two things: PlayStation® and the recording studio," Jean said. "The PlayStation brand and Burnout Paradise fit perfectly with my vision for the 'Fast Car' music video. 'Fast Car' is like life - the pace of life is moving so fast, where you can burn yourselves out at times. The concept was about taking a song with such meaning and combining it with technology, but still keeping the essence of what we're talking about and getting kids to listen to that message. A game like Burnout Paradise helps us get the attention of youngsters."

Jean directed and wrote the concept for "Fast Car", so you know he loves everything PlayStation related. In fact, beginning on March 27th, PS3 owners can download the video in high-def from the PlayStation Store. PSP owners can get it via PC from http://store.playstation.com. There's also a load of special behind-the-scenes video interviews with Jean that PS3 owners can download. Good man! Let's see more of this in the future.
