Here is a blast-from-the-past for you. How many people out there can really say they remember playing Bomberman 2 on the NES? Anyone? The funny part is that was waaaay back in 1991. But that was still Bomberman 2. The first Bomberman game was a computer game back before we had PC's. Crazy huh? Bomberman has since become one of the first games people think of when you talk about classic multi-player games.
Back in '91 when Bomberman 2 offered a multi-player mode against the computer... that was the final word in multi-player. Then in 1993 Super Bomberman hit the SNES and came packaged with a multitap. And please remember that back then the concept of multitap was virtually unheard of. This allowed four people to play all at once! Holy crap! The series has always been a sort of maze-based bomb-exploding game [Duh. -Ed.] that both challenges and frustrates people generally. And there was something about playing with four people that made it even better.
History lesson aside, my point is that Bomberman has been entertaining people for 27 years now. The game has crossed over to several different platforms and sired several different spin-offs over the years. The latest entry in the Bomberman series is called Bomberman Ultra and has been around since June of 2009. Why on God's green earth we would bother to bring this up now? It's on sale - that's why!
