Capcom to Your Wallet: M-M-Mega-Owned

Come February, your ass belongs to Capcom. Or at least that billfold that sits near your ass.

There was a time -- not so long ago, really -- that when the New Year rolled around, it was something of a post-Holiday ghost town. No games (at least no good ones) and a stretch of almost a dozen or so weeks where the merest trickle of games worth getting excited about actually appeared. Instead, things were blissfully (at least for us) calm. Not 2009, oh no. 2009 is brining the hurt to your bank account and credit balances the likes of which we haven't seen since... well, not since all those cards got maxed out and bank accounts were drained back in November and December.

So rife with big-name titles is the first quarter of this brand spankin' New Year that we're actually a little scared. The post-holiday drought used be a chance for us to finally catch up on all the stuff we didn't have to review or preview for work, but Capcom laughs at our piddly idea of "free time" and instead has decided it would be better to suck all those spare seconds away by the fistful with arguably the three biggest games to hit so far this year: Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5 and Bionic Commando (though the latter is still only tentatively scheduled for some time "within the first half" of this year. On top of that, the slightly less well-known (but still quite awesome) FLOCK! is hitting early this year too.

It is, in honesty, one of the most impressive early lineups for the publisher in ages, and includes multi-platform stuff like Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop on the Wii too. Capcom has been surprisingly active on the next-gen front, pumping out a steady stream of solid releases on all three of the big systems (it should be noted that those three games we gushed over in the past will also be hitting the 360), and in an effort to do the same, we've updated our game pages with plenty of dee-lish new movies and images to keep you as psyched as we are about said games come February (and March... and later in the year... aw, screw it, we're just psyched in general). Make sure you go check out all the goods by clicking on the game titles up there, and we'll be sure to update you when we add more deets.
