Take the Sounds of Warhawk Anywhere

Sony adds the fantastic soundtrack to iTunes.

Wow, if we didn't know any better, we'd say this whole game soundtracks on iTunes is starting to become a trent. Fresh off the news earlier this week that Activision had pumped a ton of Guitar Hero tracks onto Apple's music service comes word that Sony Computer Entertainment America is doing the same with the soundtrack for Warhawk.

Unlike Activision, which literally took the price of all the tracks and added them up for the full price of the "album" (in the case of Guitar Hero III, that's seventy-five effin' bucks), Sony followed iTunes conventions and made each song $.99, or made the whole album $9.99. It's actually a pretty solid deal, considering the Christopher Lennertz and Timothy Michael Wynn score boasts a whopping 21 tracks. Warhawk's soundtrack was one of the most impressive parts of the game (which is saying something; the gameplay and visuals were no slouches either), with lots of brassy, bombastic themes that complemented the gameplay perfectly.

The news is also significant in that it shows SCEA opening up a little and putting the soundtrack on a non-Sony service. Granted, we'd love to see the tracks on the PlayStation Network -- and to be perfectly honest, we're kinda surprised it and Lair don't have soundtracks up to buy for a couple bucks -- but hey, maybe they're saving it for the custom soundtrack rollout... whenever that may be. Even still, we'd encourage giving the tracks a listen; they're good stuff.
