Midway and Epic Games Give Out Free Unreal Tournament III Maps

It's that magic word to end all magic words: Free! Where do I sign up?

Unreal Tournament III, the Unreal Engine 3 futuristic deathmatch battle game, just got a little bigger.

Midway and Epic Games have announced three new downloadable maps for Unreal Tournament III, entitled Morbias, Facing Worlds, and Searchlight, all of which can be had on the PlayStation Network. Oh, and they're a little thing called FREE.

Morbias takes players back to the deathmatch arena that started it all, featuring chaotic free-for-all matches that should get the adrenaline going. Facing Worlds, which is an Unreal Tournament classic, is one of the most played maps in gaming history. It's also the sniper map to end all sniper maps. Time to set up camp all over again. Searchlight is a new capture the flag map that's all about rooftop runs and strategic indoor gameplay.

It's good to see Midway and Epic Games throwing something out there for the players, even though Unreal Tournament III shipped with some 40-odd maps and there have been hundreds of user created mods published since its released. If they keep this up, they might just be one of the most liked developer/publisher combinations in history. And if not, they've at least won a lot of fans.
